FootJoy relaunches the SYNR-G golf shoe

The most prolific brand of golf shoes on tour, FootJoy, asked us to help relaunch their flagship line SYNR-G. We quickly jumped on the opportunity and developed these ads for Golf World Magazine. My responsibilities on the project ranged from Creative Director with pitching and leading strategies to Art Director, attending the photo shoots and directing the illustrator.

Volkswagens Das Auto Magazine
Fall/Winter 2010

Das Auto Magazine is the owner loyalty publication for Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. Its circulation is approximately 675,000 and is published twice a year. While many photos are provided, we concept and shoot several stories for each issue.
Responsibilities on the project included Creative Direction, Art Direction and Photo Direction. This meant I was heavily involved in all stages of the assignment from concepting and pitching stories to clients to overseeing layout design and brand standards. I was responsible for choosing photographers, illustrators and models, and directed photo shoots on location and in studio. It was a lot of fun.

Volkswagens Das Auto Magazine
Spring/Summer 2010

The description is the same for this as it is for the one above. With one important exeption, however. This issue of Das Auto Magazine kicked off the new look of the publication compliant with the new brand direction once Deutsch became VWs AOR at the begginning of 2010. The new visual language was developed with top VW executives. Directing seperate visual briefs on photography, typography, design and layout, we were able to identify a visual system prolific enough to accomodate a wide variety of editorial content.

Threadless Loves Volkswagen Pre-Loved

What happens when you realize a clients brand you love is speaking the same language to the same target market as a T-shirt company you love? You pick up the phone and sell the partnership to both companies. So after months of showing persistent enthusiasm for the concept to both Threadless and Volkswagen Certified Pre-Loved (VWCPL) we finally got the program off the ground. And guess what? It was wildly successful. Maybe it had something to do with the client agreeing to give away a car (the largest ever Threadless giveaway at the time) or perhaps it was the alignment of both brands with the same target audience. Either way, VWCPLs General Manager of Sales was quoted saying this was the single, most largest and successful marketing campaign VWCPL has ever done. Designers came out with the fury with a higher than average number of design submissions for this Threadless Loves design competition, but only one lucky designer would win the car. Along with the client and my account team, we judged the entries together and we must have made a good choice because the shirt sold fast. You can still view the archived page here.

Harley-Davidson Dealer Sales Incentive Program

I absolutely love motorcycles, so I was super pumped to work on this project. I had the fortunate opportunity to not only oversee design as the Art Director on this project, but also to lead creative development as the Creative Director. From pitching several themes for the project through attending the press check (a very special printing process earned this project a very special award from Neenah paper), I was able to oversee all phases of this assignment. From ideation to fulfillment, the project took approximately 6 weeks to execute and deliver.
